Cookies in Use
 
This month's cake club was Healthy Cakes. We had been very forward thinking and decided we would all have had too much to eat over Christmas. 

We had such an array of wonderful cakes. Banango cake - Banana and Mango, a brilliant apricot and chocolate cake and huge selection of cakes that used sugar substitutes. 

I made this More-fruit-than-cake Cake from Leon's Baking and Puddings. I have got to say I'm not sure how healthy it was. It has 375g of figs in it but also, a lot of honey and red wine! I didn't put in all the honey suggested as it just seemed too much! It was however a very moist and flavoursome cake. 

I served the cake with some Greek Gods Honey Yogurt I had been sent to try, it is available in larger Sainsbury stores. The yogurt is thick and creamy but not too sweet and it doesn't have any strange ingredients or flavorings - just good yogurt and honey. It does have a tendency to separate out a little but nothing a quick stir won't solve! It was a perfect addition to this cake. I cut out a little section in the middle to make space for my yogurt bowl.

NB: I was sent the Greek Gods yogurt to review and was allowed to share my own opinions whether positive or negative.

This looks fab and it must be healthy with figs, honey and red wine...all have great health benefits...and it's great that it was still flavoursome! :-) I bet it was delicious with the yogurt too. Thanks for entering this month's Calendar Cakes

Wow what a gorgeous cake, I love the cut out idea (and means you get to try some!) You are so good at entering all your link ups, I ALWAYS forget - fail!
