When a celeriac arrived in my veg box I was stumped to begin with. Then with a bit more rooting around in my box I found a leaflet with lots of handy tips on how to use my celeriac. I was immediately taken with the celeriac and blue cheese soda bread recipe.

On examining my fridge I found that I only had a solitary leftover lump of old brie so I decided to make my loaf with this instead. The recipe can be found here at Abel and Cole and I really recommend it. As it uses self raising flour there is no yeast or proving involved.

The result was a moist, yummy loaf of bread perfect for accompanying my lunches. The celeriac goes well with the brie and I love bread that has a hint of cheesy flavour. I used my bread for my bacon buttie and to go with my tomato soup.

As I used my bread in for my lunches I am joining in this month's Fresh From the Oven Challenge to bake bread for lunches.

The challenge is hosted by Utterly Scrummy.

I love celeriac. Your bread looks very tasty, that's a recipe that I'm sure could be adpated in lots of ways.

I love savoury breads and have used self raising flour before too. They are great for when you don't want to wait for the proving to work. Celeriac is something I should eat more of, I love it. What a great sounding loaf!

Thanks Laura. I made it again with carrot too. Sort of worked but maybe a little too moist!

I love celeriac, I've baked it into muffins but I haven't tried it in bread yet and I love the fact that it's quick to make.
