I was therefore really happy when I found these at the back of the fridge! I was a little dubious and so thought I would jazz them up a bit with some leftover orange candied peel.
The result was a really nice, fairly quick (20 minutes) orange pain au chocolat.
All you have to do is place the chocolate sticks at each end of the piece of dough and fold into the middle. This is where I added my candied orange peel. I finished by brushing the dough with milk and then baking for 15 minutes. All the instructions were on the pack.
The pain au chocolats are slightly heavier and dougher than shop bought but were still, flaky and flavoursome. I really liked the fact that there was a generous amount of chocolate in each pastry!

I'm entering this into Laura from How to cook good food's One Ingredient Challenge which this month is orange.

Credit Crunch Munch is about is all about saving money, whilst enjoying good food. I am hoping this entry counts as I was utilising some leftover candied peel.
